Since 1987 the Renaissance Festival has been organised by the Municipality of Rethymno each summer to promote both the Cretan and European Renaissance. This year the famous festival will take place July 12.-27.

The Norwegian Embassy in Athens is pleased to announce that Ms. Sirmatenia Paraschaki has been appointed honorary consul of Norway in Chania, having the jurisdiction over the regions of Chania and Rethymnon.

Every summer Rethymno hosts its wine festival that takes place in the Municipal Park. Throughout the duration of the Festival, visitors will have the opportunity to sample some of the finest examples of Cretan wine and local produce. It's not all about the drink though - local and international music performances supplement the programme, with plenty of lively performances.
